Rural Health Centres ....
Community Health & Development Centers

The great visionary Padmashree Dr.Vithalrao Vikhe Patil had realised the need to provide comprehensive health care to all, particularly to the underprivileged, and needy rural population in 1970 much before the Alma-Ata declaration.

Pravara Medical Trust , Loni is aware of the fact that most of the health needs received low priorities in the socio-economic revolution of the 20th century. Neglect on rural health and Agro-medicine by global/national health agencies, no thrust on "Equity and Equality in health" access, affordability, gender-gap, rural-urban gap, new emerging communicable and non-communicable diseases, social unrest etc., remained as challenges in the 21st century.

Government health care delivery system alone is unable to cope up and provide the desired health care to all. Hence it is necessary for all the npn-governmental organisations to participate and strengthen existing services and also explore the possibilities of providing the servicesmw hich are not being covered by public health authorities.

Pravara Medical Trust , Loni has decided to accept the above challenges. As a part of it, PMT decided to establish five Community Health & Development Centers at villages (Pathare, Rahata, Kolhar KD, Babhleshwar, Zarekathi) in Ahmednagar District, to deliver the services at their door steps free of cost with active participation of community.

The facilities provided include 24 hrs. emergency services, reproductive and child health services, geriatric services, lab services, specialist services and referral services at Pravara Rural Hospital, Loni.

Various activities undertaken by these centers are as follows:
  • Medical Care.
    1. OPD Services.
    2. Specialist services once a week.
    3. Basic Laboratory services.
    4. Emergency services.
    5. Antenatal and postnatal care.
    6. Health care provision to migratory workers.
  • Preventive Care
    1. Under five care- immunization and growth monitoring.
    2. School health activities.
    3. Promotion of family welfare activities.
    4. Health awareness and educational activities.
    5. Assistance in health projects, programmes, surveys and research
This is first of its kind in the whole of Maharashtra state as an example to follow.
