Project Objective
DEVELOPMENTAL OBJECTIVE:
The broad objective of the Project is develop a “Multisectoral Approach Model for Sustainable Health and Development” by involving Governmental Organizations (GOs), Non Government Organizations (NGOs), Academic Institutions and Civil Society for the benefit of vulnerable sections of the society in underserved areas of Ahmednagar district.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES & OUTCOME INDICATORS
Objectives and outcome indicators of the Project under the five Strategic Intervention areas are:
Strategic Area 1: Improvement of Access to Medical Services
Objectives:
- To provide routine, specialized and emergency Maternal and Child Health and Safe abortion Services at Primary Health Care, and peripheral level (Village & Cluster of houses) on the Swedish Model of health care delivery
- To improve the skills of the health workers (medical, nursing and paramedical) in the delivery of effective maternal, child and adolescent health on Swedish pattern of MVC, BVC and Youth Clinics.
- To provide diagnostic facilities at the PHC level for screening STI, RTI, Cancer, HIV/AIDS etc.
Outcome Indicators:
- Reduction in infant mortality rate (IMR) from 110 to 55 per 1000 live births.
- Reduction in obstetrical emergencies at tertiary level and reduction in maternal mortality rate (MMR) from 3 to 2 per 1000 live births.
- Increased knowledge and skills of health workers in the rural areas for effective delivery of MCH services
- Early diagnosis and treatment of STDs/RTIs & HIV/AIDS in the target area
Strategic Area 2: Gender equality, Socio-Cultural Aspects & Poverty
alleviation
Objectives:
- To raise awareness about age at marriage, sexual and reproductive health rights, genital and breast cancers
- To ensure social & economic security for drop out girls, HIV/AIDS widows, & unemployed youth
- To improve status of women and sex ratio in favour of female
- To improve the conditions of environmental sanitation and utilization rates of existing latrine facilities
Outcome Indicators
- Improvement in the status of women and adolescents
- Reduction in the % girls getting married below 18 years and the incidence of STIs, HIV/AIDS
- Improved social security to unmarried girls and HIV/AIDS Widows,
- Improved rural sanitation (increase in latrine facility, utilization rate etc)
Strategic Area 3: Behavioural Change Communication & Awareness
Generation, & HIV/AIDS
Objectives:
- To bring behavioural changes in the medical and para-medical staff on universal safety precautions and stigma against HIV/AIDS
- To empower gram panchayat, farmers, women and adolescents on government schemes, agriculture, developmental opportunities.
- To raise awareness levels of general public about potable drinking water, environmental sanitation, nutrition rich foods and healthy villages
Outcome Indicators:
- Health workers adopting universal safety precautions and treating HIV/AIDS patients
- Community (opinion leaders, farmers, women) is aware and utilizing various developmental opportunities and work towards “healthy community” and “healthy village”
- Improvement in the nutritional levels of women, adolescents and children
Strategic Area 4: Nutrition, Biotechnology, and Eco-farming
Objectives:
- To undertake research on low cost herbal antiviral drug preparations
- To undertake fact finding research on quality of breast milk
- To undertake research on drought and salt tolerant crop varieties
- To build capacity of farmers on eco-farming practices and general public on purification of drinking water, nutrition rich plantations etc.
Outcome Indicators:
- Improved availability of anti viral drugs at affordable cost
- Improved knowledge amongst scientific community about the quality of breast milk
- Improvement in the crop yield and crop variety in the drought prone areas
- Increased INM & IPM practices by farmers & general public
- Improved access to potable drinking water
Strategic Area 5: e-health for Empowerment & Service delivery
Objectives:
- To improve the access and delivery of health care services at Primary Health Centers/Rural Hospitals by electronically connecting them with tertiary level Pravara Rural Hospital
- To empower the community by improving the access to information (Government development schemes, Agricultural information (market trends, weather) etc) and facilitate economic and area development process in the target area
- To improve the access to health education and health awareness generation to women, adolescents, school children
Outcome Indicators:
- Improved access, quality and utilization of health care services at PHC level
- Improved knowledge and confidence levels of health workers in rural areas
- Improved knowledge and awareness on developmental and other government social security and welfare schemes and agricultural & economic development
- Improved utilization and participation in government developmental and social security & welfare schemes
- Improved health awareness amongst women, adolescents, school children.
