Former Vice-Chancellor of Shivaji University (2000-2004) and Pravara
Institute of Medical Sciences (2004-2007). He was Professor of Energy
Studies, State Bank Chair at Pune University (1988-2000) and has
contributed to teaching and research activities of School of Energy
Studies, Pune University. He has published 100 research papers in
international journals and has guided 24 students for Ph.D. Degree and
35 students for M.Phil. Degree.
Professional Experience
He was Director, School of Energy Studies (1988-2000), Dean of Science
Faculty (1994-1999), Associate Director of Board of College and
University Development, Registrar of Pune University, Chief Co-ordinator
of Interdisciplinary Schools. He was also Co-ordinator for NET and SET
Examinations conducted by UGC and Govt. of Maharashtra respectively. He
is expert in Nonconventional Energy Sources such as Solar, Wind, Biomass
etc.
His research is mainly in the field of Solar Energy, Wind Energy,
Biomass and Material Sciences. He is member of several committees of
MNRE, Govt. of India, MEDA, BIS, NAAC etc.
He has been mainly responsible for establishment of Interdisciplinary
Schools in Pune University and is recognised at National level as an
expert in Non-conventional Energy Sources.
Current Activities
He is actively engaged in the research and development of advanced
technologies for use of non-conventional energy sources.

Membership of International Scientific Societies and Bodies
He is a member of Physical Society of Japan, Fellow of Maharashtra
Academy of Sciences and founder secretary of Maharashtra Solar Energy
Consortium.
