About NAD & ABC

NAD DigiLocker is an initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). MHRD has appointed UGC as nodal agency for implementation of NAD scheme through DigiLocker. NAD-DigiLocker aims to provide paperless government, facilitated the students to get authentic Educational documents/certificate in digital format which was issued by their Academic institutions. The NAD ecosystem comprises of the Academic Institutions, Students, Verifying Partners, and NAD Repository.

National Academic Depository (NAD) is a 24X7 online store house of all academic awards viz. certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets etc. duly digitised and lodged by academic institutions boards / eligibility assessment bodies. NAD not only ensures easy access to and retrieval of an academic award but also validates and guarantees its authenticity and safe storage.

As per the National Education Policy NEP-2020, the Academic bank of Credits (ABC) is envisaged to facilitate the academic mobility of students with the freedom to study across the Higher Educational Institutions in the country with an appropriate “credit transfer” mechanism from one program to another, leading to attain a Degree/Diploma etc.

Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a virtual/digital storehouse that contains the information of the credits earned by individual students throughout their learning journey. It will enable students to open their accounts and give multiple options for entering and leaving colleges or universities. There will be “multiple exits” & “multiple entries” facility during the higher education tenure & credits will be transferred through the ABC seamlessly.

Features of NAD

NAD will operate in fully online mode.

Roles & Responsibilities

Academic Institutions (AIs)

Provide certificate templates, data masters etc. to the depositories.
Provide data of academic awards for lodging the academic awards on NAD.
Are responsible for accuracy of data of academic awards.
Identify staff to be trained in NAD system.
Lodge Awards – Upload awards and seed with Aadhaar / NAD ID.

Update Aadhaar / Unique NAD ID in a certificate record.

Students

Register on NAD-Digilocker by providing Aadhaar detail.
Avail Unique NAD ID in case of non-availability of Aadhaar.
Submit Aadhaar/ Unique NAD ID to the Academic Institution for verification and seeding their award data with Aadhaar/ Unique NAD ID.
View and access all awards online at any time in a single account.

A Students Can Thus:

View/ download digitally signed awards.
Request printed copy of the certificate.
Approve/ reject request of any verifier for access to his/ her certificate.
Send a copy of the certificate to any verifier.

Steps to create ABC Id:

1. Login www.digiLocker.gov.in / www.abc.gov.in

2. Click “Search Document” option

3. In the “Education” field. Select the “Academic Bank of Credits” option.

4. Click “ABC Id Card” option.

5. Give basic details like Name, DOB and Gender.

6. Click “Get Document” option.

7. Your ABC Id will be generated.

Records Uploaded

As per the UGC guidelines, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University) has registered in NAD – DigiLocker & ABC and uploaded the Students degree/diploma certificates from the 9 th Convocation held in year 2015 onwards in NAD -DigiLocker portal.

Final Year Marks statements of students of MBBS, MD and MS programmes offered by Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil Rural Medical College, Loni and BDS and MDS programmes offered by Rural Dental College, Loni are uploaded on NAD portal from the examinations held in the year June 2014 onwards.

Marks Statements of Students of the credit pattern courses viz. Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Bachelor of Science (Medical Biotechnology), Bachelor of Science (Hons.) (Medical Biotechnology), Master of Science (Medical Biotechnology), Master of Public Health, Master of Social Work (Health), uploaded in their ABC Id’s from 2021 batch onwards.

Marks Statements of Students of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), are uploaded in their ABC Id’s from 2022 batch onwards to till date.

Marks Statements of Students of Bachelor of Science (Hons.) (Medical Radiology and Imaging Technology), Bachelor of Science (Hons.) (Radiotherapy and Technology), PG Diploma In Hospital and Healthcare Management (PGDHHM) are uploaded in their ABC Id’s from 2025 batch onwards.

Click on “Sign up” option and give basic details.
In “Sign in” box give your Aadhaar/Mobile number and Security pin.
Click “Search document” option.
In “Education Field” search your Educational Institution.
Give the Basic details to fetch your digital certificate.
In “Issued documents” option you can able to see your digital certificate.
